Lancaster County Recovery Alliance came to us looking to create a PSA to educate Lancaster County that recovery is all around, and that it is thriving and empowering the community as a whole. We envisioned an alternative to a traditional negative slant news-feeling piece with a mixed documentary/narrative approach, using 6 real people who are thriving in recovery in Lancaster. We filmed our cast in various settings they encounter in their daily life, in staged situations, and used their words from pre-interviews to craft an empowering, emotionally charged script. From McCaskey football stadium to Grace Baptist Church to Square One Coffee and Leisure Lanes, our goal was to paint a broad picture of what recovery looks like and tie it to the community in recognizable places. The keywords we used to hone our vision are listed on the images below. We produced a 3 minute version and 30 second version for LCRA.
